Yet many people just do not get the seven to eight hours of sleep each night recommended by sleep experts. It doesn’t have to be this way.
For millions of people, the consequences of a poor night’s sleep – higher stress, increased mistakes, difficulty concentrating – are every day occurrences.
What many people don’t realize is that getting a better night’s sleep is not just about going to bed earlier. It is about making a larger investment in sleep overall, including taking a closer look at your sleep surface and surroundings. According to the Better Sleep Council, improving sleep quality is just as important as quantity.
After much research, Sleep Scentsations aromatherapy pillow liners have been found to be a natural option that significantly promotes better sleep and falling asleep easier. Take the first step to a better life, try Sleep Scentsations yourself and get a free relaxations CD as well.

Quantity of Sleep Vs. Quality – What’s Better?
Sleep. It’s one of the most important things that your body needs in order to be healthy. It’s also essential to having a sharp mind, being able to learn, be in a good mood, and even to stay safe and maintain a healthy weight. It is an important part of just about every corner of your life. Problem is, if you are like most Americans, you have no hesitation about sacrificing it for your work, family, School, etc.
What you don’t realize is that all those nights you stay up putting in hours may be doing more harm than good.
EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT. Every person has their own basal sleep need, which is the amount that your body needs for optimal performance. Adults usually fall somewhere between 7 and 9 hours per night. So if your body has a basal need of 8 hours per night and you trim an hour off each day, your setting yourself up to not be at your peak performance capabilities. To determine what you body needs, pay attention to how you feel after various amounts of sleep. When you consistently feel your best at a particular amount, that’s your basal sleep need.
It’s Not Easy to adjust to sleep schedules. It can take a couple of weeks for your body to adjust to a new sleep schedule. This is important to keep in mind if you are going to be traveling somewhere that has a different time zone. A week before you go, start living off that time zone, and you will have a much easier time adjusting once you get there.
CONSISTENCY. Contrary to popular belief, you do not need less sleep as you age. The amount of sleep that your body needs remains quite consistent throughout your entire adulthood.
LENGTH of sleep is NOT the most important thing. Just because you laid in bed for 10 hours doesn’t mean that you actually got a good night’s sleep. What matters is how well you slept. It is important that you got deep sleep, as sleeping soundly is more important than staying in bed longer. To help you sleep more soundly, try using a white noise machine.
You CAN’T “catch up” on sleep another time. While you may feel better getting to sleep in on the weekend, you don’t actually have a sleep bank, where you can make up hours that you lose. The best route to take is to aim for getting what your body needs on a daily basis.
Naps are NOT just for babies and toddlers. Naps can be an important part of keeping you alert and performing at your best. A power nap of just 20-30 minutes can go a long way toward make you feel fresh, alert, and ready to take on the rest of your day. Did you know that Thomas Edison and Albert Einstein regularly napped?
DON’T Downplay your snoring. Snoring may be common, but that does not mean that it’s not something that you should be worried about. Snoring can actually be a sign of some serious health problems, such as cardiovascular disease or sleep apnea. If you are a heavy snorer, it is important to speak to a doctor about it to make sure it is nothing serious. You can also try Sleep Scentsations SNORE RX aromatherapy Pillow Liners, to try to naturally curb the problem.
Stress is not the only thing that keeps people awake at night. There are many things that can keep people awake at night, with stress being just one of them. One way you can help to alleviate this is to create a bedtime routine where you do something calming leading up to bedtime, such as reading or taking a bath. Avoid working right until bedtime. Instead, create a relaxing bedtime routine to help you fall asleep faster.
In conclusion, don’t downplay the importance of getting enough quality sleep. Without it, your health will likely suffer, as well as your productivity. Sleep is one of those things that we can’t do without. Try Sleep Scentsations to promote a better nights sleep and a better life!

Sleep Scentsations Partners with WakeMate to Scientifically Test the Sleep Benefits of Aromatherapy
Are you tired of feeling tired? Want to gain valuable insight into what affects your sleep quality so you can improve it? Sleep Scentsations wants to help you using an amazing sleep monitoring wrist band and the new Phone Application from WakeMate!
Image via CrunchBase
The WakeMate is a comfortable wristband that you wear when you sleep. It measures subtle body movements—a scientifically proven method of Actigraphy to map dips and peaks in your sleep cycle.
Actigraphs are devices generally placed on the wrist (although they can also be placed on the ankle or trunk) to record movement. Collected data is downloaded to a computer (or in this case your phone!) for display and analysis of activity/ inactivity that in turn can be further analyzed to estimate wake/sleep. The latter technology is based on the observation that there is less movement during sleep and more movement during wake.
The wristband communicates directly with your mobile phone to calculate the ideal wake time closest to your alarm setting. When you wake up, your night’s sleep data is automatically uploaded to Wakelytics™, their online analytics platform.
The Wakelytics™ platform allows you to see a comprehensive overview and comparison of sleep quality scores, number of nightly awakenings, time before falling asleep, and more.
When you go to bed at night, set your WakeMate alarm for the latest time you’d like to wake up. The WakeMate will rouse you up to 20 minutes prior, at a point when you’ll feel alert and refreshed
You can also drill down into each night’s detailed statistics, including:
•Your hourly sleep score
•A minute-by-minute breakdown of your sleep state
•How the night compares to your lifetime averages
The Wakelytics Comparison Tool
The best part is that you can track anything you can think of using their Comparison Tool. This took allows you to see how different health, nutrition, and daily life activities affect your sleep so you can make better choices.
Sleep Scentsations plans on using the Wakelytics Comparison Tool to test different methods like Aromatherapy to supplement sleep and to determine whether Sleep Scentsations Aromatherapy Pillow liners are scientifically beneficial as a treatment for better, longer sleep! Stay Tuned for the Results!

Take Dr. Oz’s Sleep Quiz – know your sleep facts!
Who doesn’t love Dr. Oz? His website is a great resource for those looking for answers to their health issues!
How much do you really know about Sleep and Your body?
Take the Quiz!
Don’t feel like taking the quiz? Just read the facts below!
FACT 1:
Did you know sleeping on your side is considered the “healthiest” sleep position. Ideally, this type of sleeper should lie with their back slightly curled, with bent knees and arms. This posture complements the natural curvature of the spine.
FACT 2:
The minimum amount of sleep you need to function is 7 hours, almost 3/4 of Americans aren’t having. Someone who gets 5 hours – along with diabetes, a women’s chances for obesity and heart problems also increase by 50%. Additionally, weight gain and decreased immunity are side effects of sleep deprivation.
FACT3:
There are 81 different sleep disorders affecting approximately 70 million people in the US. Most of these are rare and affect few; the most common is insomnia. Ever heard of Parasomnia? This includes nighttime sleep-related eating disorders (SRED), sleepwalking (somnambulism), screaming (night terrors) and periodic limb movement disorder.
FACT4:
Up to 1 million adults could be sleep eaters, a possible contributing cause of obesity. In fact, a good percentage of patients who attend obesity clinics have been diagnosed with a sleep-eating condition.
FACT4:
Several studies in adults suggest that valerian root may improve sleep quality and reduce the time it takes to fall asleep. Valerian root is a common ingredient in many mild sedatives and sleep aids, but should not be mixed with other sedatives or anti-anxiety medications. If your looking for a natural method to promote sleep – try SLEEP SCENTSATIONS Aromatherapy Pillow Liners. Lavender is known for being extremely relaxing.
FACT5:
Sleep apnea is also a major cause of high blood pressure and can lead to inflammation and clogging of the arteries. If left untreated,it can result in irritability, depression, and in some instances, can be fatal. People that suffer from sleep apnea often have a large neck size (over 17 inches for men; 16 inches for women). Additional symptoms include loud snoring at night, interruptions in nighttime breathing, abrupt awakenings followed by shortness of breath, headaches, and memory loss.
Sleeping on your back, in the supine position, can cause the tongue to fall inwards blocking the breathing tube. Back sleepers are prone to snoring and people with sleep apnea should not sleep on their back. If you must sleep on your back, put a pillow under your knees and a small pillow under your lower back.
FACT6:
Taking a hot bath causes your body temperature to fall, making sleep more attainable. While exercise during the day can improve sleep, doing it close to bedtime is too stimulating. And while alcohol has a sedating effect, it can disrupt deep sleep.
FACT7:
Progressive relaxation is a sleep-inducing technique involving tightening and relaxing groups of muscles. It starts with the hands and then moves to the arms, shoulders, neck, head, and then down to the legs and feet.
FACT8:
If you are not asleep after 15 minutes, get out of bed. You want the bed to be associated with sleep, not wakefulness. Go into another room and engage in a non-stimulating activity until you begin to feel sleepy, and then head back to bed. You should reserve the bed for sleep and sex only.
FACT9:
65°F is ideal – you want to keep the room as cold as you can comfortably stand. You also want your bedroom to be as dark and quiet as possible.

Snoring May Cause Money Problems: Study Finds Snorers Earn Less
A recent study done on snoring and sleep disorders just might have you in shock! Besides that fact that most people who snore are constantly buying the next great snore-reducer, snoring can actually hurt you terribly financially.
Snoring makes you poorer – and we’re not just talking about the money your partner spends on earplugs. Though many consider snoring to be a nighttime problem, it has real consequences on your waking life, too, particularly for your wallet. New research demonstrates that chronic snorers earn less money than people with normal sleep habits.
Since the health effects are already known, researchers in Denmark sought to find how snoring and other breathing-related complications affected people financially. For their sleep problems alone, snorers spent about $1,000 extra per year, sleep apnea sufferers paid more than $5,000, and those with obesity hypoventilation syndrome exceeded a whopping $15,000.
What’s worse is that the patients with these conditions are less equipped to pay for this healthcare.
Unemployment rates were 30 percent higher for people with these sleep disorders. Of the people who did have jobs, they earned significantly lower paychecks than people without sleep problems. Undoubtedly, the drowsiness that results from these conditions reduces productivity, thus affecting how people are compensated.
Even though treatment of snoring and sleep apnea may be costly, it appears worthwhile to nip it in the bud. Treating and conquering the problem early could save you from years of lost jobs and wages.
