Beat Your Bad Mood Blues and Depression With Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy and Sleep Therapy is particularly effective in dealing with stress, depression and stress related disorders.  Depression is a term which encompasses a wide spectrum of psychic problems and symptoms which can sometimes lead to more serious illnesses. Usually, Depression is a mental state characterized by a pessimistic sense of inadequacy and a miserable lack of activity.

Sleep Scentsations Aromatherapy Pillow Liners, can help with reducing depression through sleep therapy, and may actually help to prevent such conditions.   It has been found that as depression is reduced, there is a corresponding improvement in sleep patterns and energy levels.  Even Depression related disorders, such as digestive problems, stress and other mental problems, can be treated.

For example, studies of brain wave frequency has shown that smelling lavender increases alpha waves in the back of the head, which are associated with relaxation. The fragrance of Jasmine increases beta waves in the front of the head, which are associated with a more alert state.

Aromatherapy  is also known for easing mental fatigue and insomnia. Using Sleep Scentsations Pillow Liners as a form of Sleep Therapy for depression will give you the peace of mind and the well being that you need. You will enjoy the uplifting feeling that will rid your life of depression.

The use of aromatherapy can be seen as part of a lifestyle choice -- a lifestyle that allows for pleasure because a moment of pleasure is healing. Aromatherapy is aimed at revitalizing the body and mind while lifting your spirits and will help with promoting a sense of well being!

Some Aromatherapy "Love" For Men!

A few blogs back we talked about scents that are aphrodisiacs for women and that can help ladies get in the mood for their man- like our scent called My Boyfriend’s T Shirt.

However, we don’t want to leave men out either! We understand that it can be just as hard for men to get in the mood.  And we are happy to say something as simple as an aromatherapy pillow liner can help!

Whether you are male or female, from food smells to body odor, studies have found that some fragrances turn women and men on and can improve intimacy and sex.

Though the sense of smell plays a sometimes mysterious role in sex, what the nose knows and its impact on sexual attractiveness is undeniable.

Studies in 1998 and 2006 by Alan Hirsch of The Smell & Taste Treatment Research Foundation reported that:
  • Men were most aroused (40% more blood flow to the genitals) by the smells of lavender and pumpkin pie; and by doughnuts and licorice (31.5%)

  • Traditional perfume or “floral fragrances” give only a 3% increase
The Link Between Smell and Sexuality
It has been speculated that the connection between sex and aromas is as simple as happiness. If a smell makes you calmer or more confident, it may naturally contribute to loving feelings towards others, as well as more patience and tact.

Smells that make people feel good about themselves may make them feel sexier and hornier. They may also lower inhibitions.

Some essential oils are known for their ability to help balance both sexual and thyroid hormones. These aromas may work on a physical level to boost the biological factors in romance and sex. Other essential oils stimulate the brain centers relating to the emotions.

Is Aromatherapy Safe For Children?

Aromatherapy is an effective natural therapy for treating many sleep and anxiety related health problems.

Unfortunately, Sleep problems are some of the most common problems parents face with their kids.
If you have children and are considering aromatherapy as a natural treatment for sleep or anxiety related issues, then you may find Sleep Scentsations'  Ginger & Amber scent, known for its very calming properties, to be very helpful!

If you've never smelled the scent of White Ginger,  imagine a fresh ocean breeze with a whisper of floral notes, accompanied with a perfectly mastered blend of melons and berries. It is truly an island sensation in your nose and brain!

Amber has a very subtle aroma and has a long and proven history of being a valuable natural medicine that has been used to cure many ills. Chinese herbal medicines used amber in many medicines. This is what they had to say about Amber, or in Latin, "Succinum":

"The calming effect of succinum is only one of the claimed properties, which include these main areas: Subduing fright, tranquilizing the mind, and relieving convulsion. Succinum is used in the treatment of palpitation, amnesia, dreaminess, insomnia, etc. ..."

Most importantly it has been found that most children love aromatherapy scents. The Sleep Scentsations Pillow Liners are a low risk way to utitlize the benefits mentioned above.  The fact that our gentle pillow liners are safely placed under the pillow case (and the pillow can be turned over for more distance) ensures there is no skin to product contact as a precautionary factor.

Many other scents like Snore Rx may be something to consider for your child as well.  Go ahead and try out 1 liner for only $2.99 and see for yourself!

A Good Night's Sleep For Clean Freaks Everywhere!

People who have more relaxed standards for cleanliness often view the clean freak as someone who has a disorder, however that’s because the more relaxed a person is, the less they are probably bothered by dirt or germs.

Luckily, a person can be a clean freak and still live a full, happy life.  Practicing good hygiene and housekeeping usually isn’t seen as “extra work” for clean freaks, it’s just something that has to be done.

For most clean freaks when it comes to sheets, pillow covers, and blankets (etc), the best feeling is laying down and smelling that fresh clean scent.  Unfortunately, for busy people with jobs, children, parents, etc., doing laundry and cleaning your bed linens is not something you have time to do as much as you’d probably like.

Fortunately for clean freaks, aromatherapy is a great way to “trick’ your brain into thinking your bed is clean when it might not be exactly “fresh out of the dryer.”

White Tea & Lily

Luckily, Sleep Scentsations has the Botanical-WHITE TEA & LILY Aromatherapy pillow liner which is a fresh, clean scent with floral notes of lilies and a subtle hint of  white tea.  This is a great way to hold off those clean freak feelings and get a few extra days of stress-free sleep and a few less days of laundry work!

An Easy Way To Stimulate Yourself and Your Senses To Get in The Mood!

Did you know that women naturally have a better sense of smell than men and just the scent of a sexy man can make a woman go crazy? I’m sure you did! =)

As mentioned before, Scent is a powerful and often underrated magnet that attracts the opposite sex, and its biological role is quite interesting.  However, certain scents are known to trigger neurochemicals in the brain, creating psychological and physiological responses, some of which stimulate sexual responses.

Humans even naturally produce their own sexy scent called sex pheromones, odourless, invisible secretions present in sweat and body odour which are invisible attractors to the opposite sex.
Since our hygienic, squeaky-clean culture routinely removes all traces of body odour, along with sex pheromones in the process, you may not experience how sexy your man might really smell on a regular basis.

Just another reason to try an Aromatherapy pillow liner like My Boyfriend’s T-Shirt from Sleep Scentsations, a sexy blend of musk, jasmine, and sandalwood.  These scents are also known as Aphrodisiacs and may just help you get in the mood! It’s the perfect concept! As a woman, we all know it can be really hard to become aroused as fast as your partner does.  So why not use the power of scent to help move things along quicker!

Aphrodisiacs, the term originating from the Greek goddess of love, Aphrodite, are substances reputed to heighten libido, attract attention and accentuate arousal through touch, taste, and most importantly, smell.
Musk is the secretion of a gland in a species of male deer, and its similarity to human male pheromones is known to stimulate females.

Musk is also present in male sweat and linked to the hormone testosterone, perhaps explaining why the smell of sweaty men can send some women over the climactic cliff. In ancient Egypt, couples would know whether or not a woman was ovulating by her sexual responses to the scent of musk oil.*  (Random note: Because of Musk, male deer were almost extinct back in the Victorian Era!)

An outstanding aphrodisiac, sandalwood’s aroma resembles a chemical called andosterone, which is secreted from the underarm of human males. According to scientific studies, women subconsciously link light whiffs of sandalwood with andosterone, thus elevating sexual desire and attraction.* Inhaling sandalwood is also historically known to relax the mind, ease inhibition and promote sexual enjoyment.

Research sponsored by the Olfactory Research Fund and conducted by researchers at Indiana University studied the effects of male fragrance on women’s sexual arousal.

In a study of 33 women between ages 19 and 45, researchers found that women who smelled a male cologne while fantasizing about sexual experiences reported themselves more sexually aroused than during exposure to either a women’s cologne or a neutral odor.

In addition, studies in 1998 and 2006, by Alan Hirsch of The Smell & Taste Treatment Research Foundation reported that:

-women found some aromas sexually stimulating, while others actually shut down blood flow to erogenous areas
-ovulating women prefer the smell of musky, “dominant men”

There is a definite mysterious link between sexuality and scent that is still being explored by the scientific community.  For details or more information visit: http://www.helium.com/items/832862-the-benefits-of-mens-cologne-the-scent-of-a-sexy-man-can-drive-a-woman-wild

Can’t Afford A Vacation Retreat This Year? The Next Best Thing To Help You Get Away!

Unfortunately with the way things are with the economy and all of corruption that has ruined it, many of us can not afford to go on vacation this year.  Did you know that you are impacting both your physical and mental health if you don’t take some vacation time?

Here’s a little research on vacation, depression, and heart disease courtesy of WebMD:
  • One 2005 study from the Marshfield Clinic in Wisconsin found that women who don’t take regular vacations were two to three times more likely to be depressed compared to women who take regular vacations.
  • Another study followed 12,338 men for nine years — and found that men who didn’t take annual vacations had 32% higher risk of death from heart attack and 21% higher risk of death from all causes.
  • One study analyzed surveys completed by women enrolled in the 20-year Framingham Heart Study. Researchers found an eight times higher risk of heart attack and death among women who rarely took vacations (every six years or less) — compared to women who took at least one vacation every two to five years.
Vacations  help with depression because they give us a chance to recharge our batteries, change our pace, alter the scenery, and improve our attitude.

If you can’t afford to go away this year, keep these principles in mind and take your vacation time anyway.  And why not turn your home into a vacation retreat?

Here’s just a few tips for making your stay at home vacation a chance to recharge your batteries:

v     Get out the blender and the Tequila and start making those smoothies!
v     If it’s winter and very cold outside, crank up the heat and play an indoor game with your family.
v     If it’s summer and nice outside, go for a nice long hike that ends with a picnic!
v     Get A LOT of Sleep and Rest!!

Now when it comes to getting your much needed sleep and rest, that’s where Sleep Scentsations comes in!
Ranging in six categories including Botanical, Wellness, Fresh, Aromatherapy, Exotic and Sensual, Sleep Scentsations™ is a line of patented adhesive-backed pillow liners that combine aromatherapy and “aromacology,” the belief that scents can induce moods or memories, to ensure an indulging sleep experience like no other.

We have a couple of scents from our “Fresh” category we think will help you “get away.”

FRESH CUT GRASS will help you fall asleep to the pleasant memories of a spring day and the scent of freshly cut grass in the air.

DAY AT THE BEACH will help you feel like you are falling asleep on your beach towel with the scents of the ocean air, warm sand and suntan lotion.

It’s always extremely important to remember the effect Sleep Therapy, Aromatherapy and Aromacology can actually have on your mental and physical health.  It’s the next best thing besides actually going on a vacation far away, and even more important, a great alternative financially!
