Scientists have begun to take a second look at how human body odor influences sexual attraction (also known as human pheromones). The magic scent is not some romantic elixir but the aromatic influence of our immune system.
se
Even more interesting, scientists have observed for years that people are most sexually drawn to those with different hereditary backgrounds. Not race, necessarily, but contrasting immune systems and predispositions for disease. There was actually a “famous T-shirt experiment” done where people sniffed sweat-infested t-shirts and were found to be most drawn to the scent of those who were a genetic mismatch, meaning a good match for producing healthy babies!
So you could do your own experiment by sniffing your man’s shirt and if it doesn’t make you sick, you should be safe. Find the scent sexy? Great! That attraction is nature’s way of telling you he’s a safe contributor to your offspring’s genetic ensemble! Crazy right?
Well after knowing this information and what we know about Aromatherapy and its mood-inducing benefits, it seems that anyone who’s in a long-distance relationship can certainly benefit from smelling their man’s t-shirt before going to sleep at night. Hey, and it might even be a good way to resist temptation when your man is out of town!
Lucky for you Sleep Scentsations has a scent called My Boyfriend’s T-Shirt, so you don’t have to sleep with a sweat-infested shirt for real. Just stick the pillow liner on your pillow under your pillow case and its Sweet (or Sexy) dreams for you! Yay!

5 Drug-Free Ways to Stop Snoring Now
If you snore or sleep with someone who does, then you know that it’s no laughing matter and can keep you up ALL NIGHT.
Unfortunately, an estimated 45% of normal adults snore at least occasionally and 25% do so habitually, according the American Academy of Otolaryngology. However, snoring is more common in men and in people who are overweight. And snoring usually gets worse with advancing age.If you are facing a situation where you can’t sleep because you or someone you are sleeping with snores loudly, do not panic and run to purchase an over-the-counter spray or pill. Fortunately for you, there are lifestyle changes and natural remedies that can help stop snoring!
1. Change your sleep position.
Snoring occurs when the soft palate, uvula, tongue, tonsils and/or muscles in the back of the throat rub against each other and generate a vibrating sound during sleep. Usually sleeping on your side can actually help stop this.
You may also want to try raising the head of your bed 4 inches, according to the American Academy of Otolaryngology. To do this, place blocks or a wedge under the head of the mattress.
However, as snoring progresses, it can occur when you are sleeping on your side or with your head elevated. Eventually, snoring can become present all night and at all positions. Then, it’s time to examine your lifestyle.
2. Lose 10% of your body weight to help stop snoring.
Overweight people tend have bulky neck tissue which increases snoring risk. If you are overweight, losing just modest amount of weight – even just 10% of your body weight — can help you stop snoring, Mahowald says.
3. Avoid alcohol and sedatives to stop snoring.
“Anything that causes sedation such as sleeping pills or low dose alcohol can also cause snoring because they tend to suppress your breathing drive,” says Robert W. Clark, MD, medical director of the Regional Sleep Disorders Center at the Columbus Community Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
4. Inhale steam before bed to stop snoring.
Nasal congestion can often cause snoring. Clarke suggests you try to reduce congestion before bedtime by deep breathing steam through your nose.
“Steam vaporizers are worth their weight in gold,” says Clarke. “And so is running hot water, putting a towel over your head and inhaling steam to loosen mucus-causing congestion.”
5. (Last but not Least) Try Natural Remedies to stop snoring.
SNORE Rx is one of Sleep Scentsations™ patented adhesive-backed pillow liners that contains a therapeutic blend of essential oils formulated to suppress snoring and provide a more restful nights sleep.

Back in 2008, Sleep Scentsations was contacted by the United Aromatherapy Effort asking if they would be interested in contributing to their cause, and the outcome was a huge success. The United Aromatherapy Effort, (UAE) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit Charitable organization born out of the September 11th tragedy. The mission of UAE is to provide stress relief and aromatherapy to relief workers and troops during emergency work and afterwards. They collect and disseminate donated aromatherapy products to those affected by disaster or war in conjunction with chair massage and other natural therapies.
Last time, Sleep Scentsations shipped soldiers in Afghanistan their Snore RX product, a therapeutic blend of essential oils formulated to suppress snoring and provide a more restful nights sleep, and the response from the troops who used them was very positive. The company was extremely grateful that they could do a small part in making the troops’ lives a little bit more comfortable. To read some of the responses from the soldiers visit the Sleep Scentsations Facebook Fan Page.
This time around Sleep Scentsations would like to give their customers and Facebook Fans the opportunity to help out in sending a larger amount of Aromatherapy Pillow Liners to troops stationed at Camp Phoenix in Kabul Afghanistan. For every package of Sleep Scentsations someone buys, Sleep Scentsations will match their purchase and by May 31st, 2010, they will donate a maximum of 8 bulk cases (480 liners in each case) on behalf of the ‘Sleep Scentsations Fan Club.” (If someone buys 1 package of 8 liners, 8 liners will be donated to a soldier).

Can Aromatherapy be Useful for Treating Cancer?
There have been theories that claim aromatherapy is useful in treating cancer, so we decided to dive in and do a little more research to get the facts and answer those important questions!
Aromatherapy is generally not suggested as a treatment for cancer, but as a form of supportive care to manage symptoms of cancer or side effects of cancer treatment. There are different theories about how aromatherapy and essential oils work. A leading theory is that smell receptors in the nose may respond to the smells of essential oils by sending chemical messages along nerve pathways to the brain’s limbic system, which affects moods and emotions.
Has there been any animal studies conducted using aromatherapy?
One study showed that after essential oils were inhaled, markers of the fragrance compounds were found in the bloodstream, suggesting that aromatherapy affects the body directly like a drug, rather than indirectly through the central nervous system.
Has there been any research studies done with people and aromatherapy ?
Clinical trials of aromatherapy have mainly studied its use in the treatment of stress, anxiety, and other health-related conditions in seriously ill patients. Several clinical trials of aromatherapy in patients with cancer have been published with mixed results.
A few early studies have shown that aromatherapy may improve quality of life in patients with cancer. Some patients receiving aromatherapy have reported improvement in symptoms such as nausea or pain, and have lower blood pressure, pulse, and respiratory rates.

It’s Not Just The Nicotine That’s Causing You To Smoke Cigarettes
As we mentioned in our previous post, Aromatherapy and essential oils change moods and influence how you feel. Scents that are believed to help relieve the effects of nicotine addiction are lavender, bergamot, and chamomile. A number of people have found that bergamot especially takes away smoking cravings for cigarettes, helping them give up smoking more easily. These scents are aimed at revitalizing the body and mind while lifting your spirits and promoting a sense of well-being. Aromatherapy is also known for easing mental fatigue and insomnia.
But you might be wondering how these emotional feelings could help you quit smoking cigarettes, right?
Well, those struggling with depression often use cigarettes, alcohol or drugs to “self-medicate” and are also more likely to undergo severe psychological distress during attempts to quit. Researchers at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention analyzed data on 5,000 people, compiled between 2005 and 2008. They concluded that 43 percent of people suffering from depression are smokers, versus 22 percent of non-depressed people. And the relationship between intensity of depression and smoking was directly related: As severity of depression increased, so did the odds that an individual smoked cigarettes.
There are many pharmaceutical drugs available for treating depression and to help you stop smoking, like Wellbutrin, (which was designed as an antidepressant and later approved by the Food and Drug Administration for use as a smoking cessation aid under the name Zyban). However, drugs often come with weird and scary side effects.
The desire for relief without side effects often leads people with depression or who are trying to quit smoking to search for alternatives, like aromatherapy. However, many people have found relief through natural means like dietary changes, exercise, supplements, herbal remedies, aromatherapy or a combination of these and other therapies to ensure their lifestyle changes.

The Best Way to Quit Smoking Cigarettes Forever!
Did you know that Aromatherapy could actually help you quit smoking cigarettes? Why spend hundreds of dollars on a patch? When you could be spending your money on relaxation and better sleep right?
What most people do not know is the fact that Aromatherapy (the inhaling of essential oils to heal our bodies and influence emotions) dates back thousands of years. Aromatic oils were actually used by the royal families of ancient Egypt. Today, science is confirming what some cultures have known for centuries: scent can arouse feelings, suppress urges and even provide curative benefit to certain physical ailments.
Simply by breathing the aromatherapy while you are sleeping, you send scent molecules into your system where they entirely bypass the brain-blood barrier and move directly to you brain’s olfactory nerve. There they are received by the limbic system, your body’s control center for emotions, memory, stress response, metabolic function and sexual arousal.
Many people feel the effects immediately and the best part is that Aromatherapy is completely safe and non addictive, so feel free to use as often as you would like!

A number of people have found that bergamot takes away smoking cravings for cigarettes, helping them give up smoking more easily.
Again, keep in mind the emotional moods and symptoms you experience everyday. Now you might want to consider using a product like Sleep Scentsations when you are feeling aggravated (especially after a long day of work) because you are trying to quit and you are feeling withdrawals. Inhaling a calming scent like Ginger and Amber will help you relax and fall asleep before you may even reach for that cigarette!
